a quick note to let you know i'll be giving a 5 day game development
intensive at the excellent Mediamatic, Amsterdam, alongside Friedrich
Kirschner, Daniël van Gils and Klaas Kuitenbrouwer. registration is still
here's a bit from the workshop page <http://www.mediamatic.net/artefact-17509-en.html>:
During the workshop, participants will build a prototype of their crossmedia project and develop and visualize its user-scenarios. Participants will learn the basic principles of creating machinima, designing 3D game spaces and developing game play and game rules.
Participants will also learn about trends in game culture such as massive multi-player games and new kinds of game interfaces like the Nintendo Wii. Besides this, participants will be updated on the new web culture of creating, matching and sharing user-generated content, which is very influential in game culture.
it might also be a fine opportunity to be present at the world launch of
Adam's FLOSSManuals project at Montevideo on Oct 19th (sorry adam, i know
i'm taking a little liberty here ;)

Christian LAVIGNE, a founder of Intersculpt asked me to post a notice for
the exhibition and symposium: DIGITAL SCULPTURE AND BIOMORPHISM.
As translated into English: The exhibition and lectures DIGITAL SCULPTURE
AND BIOMORPHISM will convey to the general public the present artistic
revival of cybersculpture Inspired by 'shapes of life' - from the human
being to the cell via animals and plants.
Cybersculpture is a discipline which combines computing, robotics and the
Web for the creation of objects in 3 (or more) dimensions. These objects may
be virtual (relief images on a screen) or materialized by
Recent advances of the CAO and the 3D scanners allow the artist to invent
new shapes captured from the biological world or inspired by it. Some
artists use or distort the human body, some create animal or vegetal
chimeras; others have a passion for the 'artificial life'.
This event will present the works of 15 international artists and the point
of view of doctors and of biologists.
We will show fixed and mobile images and also materialized works.
This artistic, scientific and technological exhibition and lectures will be
on the Web. A bilingual (French-English) DVD catalogue will be edited.
