Join us at the Undisciplining Dance Symposium
Dance Studies, University of Auckland, New Zealand
The Undisciplining Dance Symposium contributes to a vigorous new movement to rethink disciplinarity and (transnational) geographic culture in the fields of dance, performance and cultural and artistic research (Gotman, Kings College London).
Crossing between oceanic and grounded ways of knowing and moving-knowing the Symposium attends to the relational complexity of dance in the contemporary milieu and its creative-critical junctures.
International and national artists, choreographers, practitioners, researchers and academics gather for three days to engage in creative dialogues, critical provocations, to share research practices, unsettle assumptions and address the Symposium theme through workshops, exhibitions, installations, talks and studio experiments.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Moana Nepia Efva Lilja André Lepecki
Prior to the Symposium the University of Auckland is also hosting the Tertiary Dance Festival Aotearoa where dance students, staff and international guests will assemble for four days of workshops, classes, seminars and performances.
