Kia ora koutou ADA list,
I’ve started doing some research on the history of digital art and
literature in NZ, and the ADA archive in particular.
There’s a bunch of good works of digital poetry around, some on the NZ
Electronic Poetry Centre. But I’m wondering if any list members have ideas
on early works for digital narrative / fiction that was created by writers
based in Aotearoa or by New Zealanders based elsewhere?
Who might be the first author of a digital fiction in this country???
Oh, and here is the definition for digital fiction we are working from:
“fiction written for and read on a computer screen that pursues its verbal,
discursive and/or conceptual complexity through the digital medium, and
would lose something of its aesthetic and semiotic function if it were
removed from that medium” (Bell et al. 2010).
Or to put it simply: “fiction written for and read on a computer screen
that would lose something aesthetically if it were removed from that
medium”
Any and all thoughts are appreciated!
Ngā mihi
