sounds good :)
any chance for remote input? and maybe a live stream of the proceedings?
as for the festival idea...i think there shoudl be discussion about a
festival for, say, late 2005 ... this could be good timing as the ISEA
2006 festival to be held in San Jose will, as one of its major foci,
include the Pacific
Curators (Especially Steve Dietz) will be looking for projects to include
and it could be very strategic to hold something to showcase work and
discourse and invite teh ISEA crew amongst others...
ISEA is not the only reason to hold a festival in this time but just a
suggestion as it would seem timely and could be good for nz/pacific
a model that could work would be to do it in conjunction with Australian
organisations...essentially, approach several .au entities with the idea
of a festival and utlise their resources to hold part of the fest. in
australia, then the nz part of the fest could just need to find funds to
jump people across the ditch (say from sydney to ak)...making it more
affordable all round....
starting point is some dosh for a director and go from there...lets say a
minimum seeding point of $40,000 NZ for director wage and expenses to
cover 6 months in which time the director would need to get hold of more
funds to keep the show on the road...
these are just a few 'off the top of my head' ideas....i am really excited
about this possibility, but I have learnt with time that sometimes my
ideas just arent infectious ;) ...but i would be interested to see if the
idea was interesting to an ADA symposium, till then i will 'keep the ice
under my hat' as they say in finnland (wierdos)

after a few negotiations, it looks like we have a date for the ADA
symposium - Saturday, the second of October. We thought this would be
a good time because it follows the Experimental Edit Video Festival
that the Intermedia department at Elam are organising - a day of
digital video, followed by a day of digital discourse... with lunch!
If this date sounds impossible to anyone who'd like to come along,
please let me know as soon as possible.
so, the venue:
AUT, in the throbbing heart of Auckland City
the second of october (that's five weeks away)
Where are we at institutionally? including issues like archiving,
promotion, tech support etc.
Do we want a festival? this was something adam (i think) suggested.
if so, what, when and who organises it?
these are top of the brain things, i'm hoping for suggestions. what
are your preoccupations?
Also, at this point, an indication of how many people are thinking of
coming would be really helpful too.
