I'd like to answer your question why the d>Art.O5 Screen section is only open for
Australian citizens or permanent residents.
In 2004, dLux media arts presented 3 d>Art Screen programs, selected from a call for
entries. Two programs, Australian and Australian Emerging, were of Australian works only.
The third program was an international (non-Australian) program. This year however, due to
a decrease in funding, dLux media arts is unable to produce multiple screening programs
(we don't have enough resources to cover the artists fees and production costs).
Given this situation, and dLux media arts' primary responsibility to present and
promote Australian screen based and new media art we have chosen to produce one program
of Australian screen-based works. In terms of International video works, dLux media arts
will screen imported international programs from similar organisations overseas throughout
the year - and endeauvour to set-up reciprocal screenings for the Australian d>Art.O5
Screen program overseas.
We regret we aren't able to produce a d>Art International Screen program this year,
and hope to reinstate this category next year.
