We are considering upgrading the modem firmware in our cisco AS5200 to
support V.90 connections. Anyone had any bad experiences with the
combination?

This is a heads-up for those who care about such things.
"Venomous" - real name Jodi Jones - is now working at Netbyte
in Auckland.
People tracking him will recall that the last ISP he worked for (Dayrom
in Australia) was used as a base for hacking and DoS attacks. You may
wish to firewall accordingly.
Yes Netbyte are aware of his history - they claim they believe in giving
second chances. Funnily enough that's the exact same claim Dayrom made...

no probs. I;ve been meaning to follow the MBONE up. Our offer is for rack
space in BOTH APE and WIX. We will also provide tech support and are
looking at bandwidth (with a probable yes). We plan on Roger's router at
one point and a Linux box at the other. Zebra suports DVMRP and I'm
looking for something for PIM on Linux boxes.

I have someone who's looking to sell their now-surplus Cisco 1603, but has
no idea what it's worth. (And neither do I..)
So what's one worth these days 2nd hand?

Hello,
Just out of interest -- has anybody noticed any problems sending mail to
Domainz, due to the fact that the MX for domainz.net.nz points to
mail2.actrix.gen.nz, which is itself a CNAME for mercury.actrix.gen.nz?
It's not the best MX for the zone, and hence might never get used anyway.
[MX to a CNAME is illegal, in case I'm not making myself obvious]
Just interested in whether this has had any operational impact. Whilst
simultaneously poking fun at Domainz and Actrix for their trivial DNS
misconfiguration, obviously :)

Sure, 12.0x is really immature right now and full of bugs. Try the most
recent 12.0x release and see if that makes your problems go away.
Experience says release start to get usable around about '10 and
stable about '16 or so -- so you still have a while to wait.

Does anybody here know an exact date and time for when domainz will switch
off the UoW registration system (comprising domainz.waikato.ac.nz and whois
server)?
I dont recall it being published anywhere as yet.

sorry for the broad cross-posting...
While waiting for the 2q2000 inverse tree audit to finish,
<http://www.isi.edu/~bmanning/in-addr-audit.html>
I crunched some numbers on the previous two quarters data.
This is only for servers in the in-addr.arpa tree that
responded. Servers w/ modified replies to the version
query are not included but they are less than a single percent.
<http://www.isi.edu/~bmanning/in-addr-versions.html>
(Shouts to you folks w/ back level code... tis better to
upgrade than not. And hiding your version is no protection.)
Comments appreciated.
