As this is the semester break and many of you may have other plans we
have decided to suspend coffee meetings on Friday until the start of the
next semester. However, if any of you want to continue meeting at the
Station, please feel free to do so.
Both Todd and I will be available by email.
Just wanted to let you know a few things:
1. Dr Giselle Burns, History Dept, has been appointed as the new
chair of the Postgraduate Studies Committee. It's great that we
finally have someone to fill this vital role, and we look forward to
working with her on postgraduate issues. Her appointment should help
give new life to many of our concerns and we believe that she will be
a strong advocate for us during her tenure.
2. The next meeting of the Postgraduate Studies Committee has been
postponed from Wed 2 July to Wed 16th July. If you have any concerns
that you'd like brought before the Committee please let us know by
sending an email reply to this list serve. If your concern is
private, feel free to email either me <tn37(a)waikato.ac.nz>, or
Caroline Thomas, President PGSA <C.Thomas(a)xtra.co.nz> and we'll see
that your concerns are brought before the committee.
3. We also meet regularly for weekly informal coffee/tea at the
Station Cafe on Hillcrest Road on campus (tea and coffee is provided
free during this time). We meet each Friday morning from 10-11am.
We're usually at a table in the front room by the glass windows
overlooking Hillcrest Road. So please come by and introduce
yourselves! We'll be there this Friday 20 June.
4. If you haven't yet had a chance, please answer the very brief (3
questions!) survey on the Australasian Digital Thesis programme. Info
on this, and the survey, can be found by clicking on the following
link (or copying and pasting it into your browser's address bar):
We've had 52 responses so far and I'd like to get a whole lot more.
(All responses are totally anonymous.) I'll be presenting the final
results from this survey to the Postgraduate Studies Committee at our
next meeting on 16th July. Anyone who'd like to see the survey
results can email me after 16th July.
Hope to see you,
Dept. of Political Science and Public Policy
