Firstly, my apologies again for running out of Pizza and brownies at our last Pizza event. We only catered for 35-40 as per the RSVPs and had about 70 turn up. Kay was said that she is happy to buy more pizza so next time please let us know you are coming. We might have to get a bigger room so we can all spread out and chat.
This is a formal reminder that our 2015 Annual general Meeting is on Thursday the 26th of March at 1:30pm in M3.03 in the library. All are welcome.
As already indicated I, Carrie Swanson am stepping down as President, and the committee. Our Vice-President Hermanus Kruger and Secretary, while happy to remain on the executive committee are stepping down from their positions. So we would welcome people to fill these positions.The job descriptions are below but are not too onerous. The more people who get involved, the more events we can run, and the more support we can give you all for your PhD or study. I have also attached my President's report, and the AGM minutes from 2013/2014 year to be checked. The constitution is also attached for your interest. I will give my 2015 report at the AGM.

The Executive shall consist of a maximum of 10 and a minimum of three, voting members elected at the Annual General Meeting.At the AGM, the members shall elect from its members a 'President', a Vice President, Secretary and a Treasurer.
Duties of the Officers
The president shall chair general meetings of the Waikato PGSA and Executive meetings, or nominate another member of the Executive.Failing the availability of either the President or Vice President, the members of the Executive shall choose a chairperson from among their number.
The Treasurer shall receive and acknowledge all monies paid to the Association and shall arrange payment of all the Association's accounts payable, as authorised by the executive.The SecretaryThe Secretary shall record and circulate the agendas and minutes of all meetings, maintain membership lists and respond to enquiries.

The retreat provides you with an opportunity to focus on your writing in a
space free of the usual distractions that you might otherwise encounter in
your daily workspace. The retreat is designed to provide a motivating,
supportive environment where you can concentrate on writing, connect with
others undertaking their own PhD journeys, discover strategies for
overcoming writing blocks and receive feedback on your work if you
of work is entirely voluntary – the main aim of the retreat is to increase
your productivity by giving you an opportunity to write uninterrupted.*
Students attending previous retreats have found the collegial atmosphere
motivating and the feedback on their writing really helpful. Others have
found that simply having the opportunity to write in a different space,
free of the usual interruptions, enabled them to accomplish a good amount
