Writing Support for Higher Degree Students
Thesis Writing Circles
Next Meeting – 21 August, 10:00-12:00 (PLEASE NOTE NEW TIME)
The next regular meeting of the Thesis Writing Circles for doctoral
students will be on Friday, 21 August, 10:00-12:00 p.m. in BG.24. All
doctoral students (regardless of whether or not they have attended
previous meetings) are most welcome to attend.
The aim of the Thesis Writing Circles (TWCs) is to develop the writing
capabilities of higher degree students through collaborative learning
and conversation with peers. Our TWC provides an active, supportive,
and student-led environment in which students share writing, develop
strategies and skills to enhance the writing process, and develop
interpersonal networking skills. TWC sessions are facilitated by
senior academic staff in Student Learning.
In the 21 August session we will continue discussing focusing your
writing – particularly from the perspective of writing an abstract.
Please bring a sample of your writing to share with your circle.
Student Learning will also bring some examples (just in case….)
If you would like to join our Thesis Writing Circles page in Moodle,
please contact Trish Strang (pstrang(a)waikato.ac.nz).
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone in BG.24 on Friday, 21 August.
