Just a quick change to today's Postgraduate Presentations Series (Wednesday, 12 June,
from 1-2pm, in the McLaren meeting room, TT1.12, in the Faculty of Education). Alvina is
unable to give her presentation today so Carrie has kindly offered to give a talk on her
topic. So today's lineup will be:
1. Durgeshree Devi Raman: "Water Security in the 21st Century: Pre-emptive Solutions
to Anticipated International River Disputes"
Abstract: This presentation discusses freshwater shortages, threats to international river
water resources, anticipated freshwater disputes, and international law as it relates to
the use and sharing of freshwater resources from international rivers, looking at three
case studies of the Jordan, Nile and Indus Rivers.
2. Carrie Swanson: "Working with the fictional other: Managing self through ethical
tension in Mantle of the Expert"
Abstract: This paper will explore how working through Mantle of the Expert can enable
students to build capacity not only in curricular learning areas but also in the key
competencies, which are considered to be pivotal for learning (Ministry of Education,
2007). This paper will focus on the key competency of managing self. This paper draws on
data from my doctoral research into learning science through Mantle of the Expert
Hope to see many of you there!
