I found there was already a .deb file. So I thought,
fine, I don’t need this “googleearth-package”, I can just download that and install it.
Did you use gdebi to install it?
$ apt-cache search gdebi

gdebi - Simple tool to install deb files
gdebi lets you install local deb packages resolving and installing its
dependencies. apt does the same, but only for remote (http, ftp)
located packages. It can also resolve build-depends of debian/control
