Yep, it clearly is a long time - so long you've forgotten how to spell
my name! ;)
Your comment about not having much time stirred something in the "tech"
inside of me...
It seems that a good proportion of would-be linuxers are put off by "not
having enough time" to play with Linux in order to get to a point where
they are comfortable using it.
Oh for enough time to fiddle :)
I think the cause of this is the microsoft world.
People are often
scared to take that leap away from windows, and may need to fall back on
windows apps for productivity/compatibility reasons.
I think people in general are afraid of change, If the software they
does what they want they see no reason to change to something else.
Also with the majority of people using computers today being only semi
literate (or even Illiterate), most people arn't interested in investing the
to learn a new interface/method of work, even if it is 1000 times better
This in turn hinders the spread of linux, and in effect, adds to the
What do you all think? How can we help (short of nuking M$!)?
I recon the best way to help is to get in at grass roots level, it the
just starting, ie school kids, tech students. If they are introduced to
they get into the full workforce, cause once they get out there they will be
one way of doing things and if that way is MS your stuffed.
